KSNM and TEA Party movement; Radical vs. Slow and Steady
Why radical won't win the war. Lessons learned from the past
By Monica Boyer, Kosciusko Silent NO More
My point? We will only win this battle if we remain steadfast with one foot placed before the other... Committed to our name; “Silent NO More”. Even when it's not the fad or cool... Even when the cameras go away... With the help of our Almighty God, we will win this battle against the Progressives, but not with bells and whistles. Only with perseverance and bloody hard work, feet on the ground, smart decisions built on more smart decisions, yes my friends… we will win!
In the midst of a battle, it is essential that the leadership take a step back, and look at the battle plans; reassess, and renew. We must do everything in our strength to re affirm the commitment to our children not to grow weary. We must also remember the Progressives are ahead of us by over a century. They have been patient. They have been waiting for this day.
We must not lose focus. The media is looking for "radical". Radical brings them a quick story but in the end, that alone won't win the battle. History was made one year ago when we put down our remote controls, got into the game and said ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, but history won't be completed until we reevaluate our mission and focus on the "war" vs. each "event" to entertain the troops. Yes, we have to re energize the base, and keep them encouraged. That's our job as leaders... But if we don't also realize that the war is fought on the ground; county by county, city by city, and state by state, then, we will never win the war. We might see "instant gratification" through media stories, but if we rely on those, and not face reality that their job is to chase the spotlight story, the illusion will be that we have lost the battle. The fact is victory is right around the corner if we keep the faith and keep pushing for the next precinct, the next council position, and the next Representative or Senatorial position.
Many people have asked, "Why did Kosciusko Silent NO More change their name from the Kosciusko TEA Party"? Let's remember the story of the Tortoise and the Hare. Picture this with me; the TEA Party represents the Hare in the story. They are running fast. They are sprinting towards the finish line. If the media was covering this race, I think all cameras would be focused on the Hare. He would be doing interview after interview, he’d be throwing all sorts of events to attract the crowds of people. Now look at the Tortoise for a minute...slow and steady he goes. He doesn't look to the right or the left... He doesn't focus on the Hare that is drawing the crowds... He does however notice the sweat beginning to form on the Hare's brow, and notices that he is growing quite tired. In my story I think the Tortoise would offer the Hare a sip of water, and warn him to be careful of the turn ahead that has the Progressives hiding behind the trees to offer him a quick “rest". He would point out the throngs of media who would be only too delighted to see the Hare crash. But the Tortoise plugs on; slowly but surely. As he moves, he remembers tortoises throughout history. He remembers how George Washington fought battle after battle. How, only after 8years, he won the war. Our ever faithful Tortoise prays for God given wisdom. He seeks to understand God's plan for him and all creatures. He reads his scriptures, says his prayers, but that is not all. He ACTS. He acts carefully, strategically, and actively, always making sure to stay close to the source of all wisdom. He sees the reality around him, and sees that the war is not instantly won, but won in battles. And he plods forward, step by step into those battles, and through those battles, and on to the next battlefield. One step at a time, one conversation, one book, one prayer, one event, one life at a time. Kosciusko Silent NO More was founded in the heat... A radical heat, but with a haunting reality that WE let this happen. We accepted responsibility for our apathy. We decided this was going to have to be more than a passing fad. This was a lifestyle change for this army. We realized we will not win this war if we tire and grow weary. We made a commitment to be Silent NO More! Slow and steady wins the race. We welcome the media, and will share our story with anyone who will listen, but we refuse to quit.
The bigger and better events will bring out those who want to be entertained, but it will not keep the troops on the battlefield. Yes, for those already on the battlefield, it might give them encouragement to keep pushing forward, but the only tried and true way to get permanent troops on the battlefield is a “Cold dose of reality”. Usually this comes by looking at our children and realizing where our apathy and lack of dependence with the Almighty God has brought us. When you look back to the Old Testament, you see the same pattern. When the Israelites forgot where they came from and who they depended on, they were brought to their knees... LITERALLY!! When they came to this realization, it was not an event that brought them out, but by looking back to their history to see where God had brought them from; Slavery...When they remembered, and repented... the timeline of history changed. But did they instantaneously come out of their pit? Nope... It took the children of Israel 40 years! Can you imagine the "Hare" in this story in the desert? He wouldn't have a shot! The first sandstorm would have knocked him off his feet!!
I am in... What about you?
